Inseparable companion of Dr. Sigurtà in this great work was his grandson Enzo, a university professor and psychiatrist. Both tirelessly dedicated their energy, care, and constant passion to the good of this ecological setting.
On March 19, 1978, on a sunny day, Carlo Sigurtà opens the Garden to the public. The first visitors could only enter on board a car, in what at the time was called “self-driving”. This choice changed radically with the advent of the 2000s, since the park can only be visited on foot.
Today Enzo’s children Magda and Giuseppe continue with equal dedication to preserve and spread the word of this green treasury, continuing their ancestors’ work. In 1990 it was made the Horizontal Sundial, designed to be valid for 26,000 years, and in 2011, after six years in the making, the Maze was inaugurated, a path winding through an area of 2,500 square metres planted with 1,500 yew trees.
Over recent years particular attention has been paid to the flowering of the tulips that add so much colour to the garden park in the month of April with the result that its show of a million bulbs is regarded as among the most important in all Europe
The love of the Sigurtà family for the Park has led to its achieving important recognition for their work, such as the awards: “Italy’s Most Beautiful Park 2013”, “Second Most Beautiful Park in Europe 2015”, “World Tulip Award 2019”, and “Best Attraction in the World 2020”.
Every year, from March to November, hundreds of thousands of visitors from different countries visit the park to enjoy this enchanting piece of paradise on earth that has been preserved for history and will continue to be maintained and enhanced.
